DISCOM Electricity Load Sanction Guidelines
According to State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) Supply Codes and DISCOM operational standards:
Single-Phase (1-Phase) Supply
Permitted for connected load up to 5 kW (or 7.5 kW in specific urban areas). Suitable for 1 BHK & standard 2 BHK homes with normal household appliances.
Three-Phase (3-Phase) Supply
Mandatory for connected load above 5 kW. Essential when operating multiple Air Conditioners, EV chargers, 3-phase pump motors, or heavy commercial equipment to balance distribution load.
Connected Load vs Sanctioned Load
Connected Load: Total sum of all installed appliances.
Sanctioned Load (kW): The maximum allowed demand allocated by the electricity board based on diversity factor.
Why Accurate Declaration Matters
Under-declaring load can trigger maximum demand penalty charges on digital smart meters, voltage drops, or MCB trippings. Maintaining proper sanctioned load ensures safety and uninterrupted power.
⚠️ Regulatory & Informational Notice
This calculation tool helps consumers estimate total connected wattage and recommended sanctioned load according to standard electricity supply codes. Actual sanctioned load approval remains subject to local DISCOM site verification and testing.
